PROJECT LEAD THE WAY

Project Lead the Way

fischertechnik products are used by the most sophisticated educational technology projects in the United States. That's because real engineers can appreciate the functionality of the fischertechnik components. One such national program is Project Lead The Way, now in 26 of the 50 States. This non profit organization seeks to form partnerships between public schools, Universities and industry to promote engineering education. This project has enlisted the services of the top technology educators in the country. These educators have choosen fischertechnik as the exclusive model construction system to teach control automation. Presently fischertechnik products are used in three of their courses, Principles of Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Gateways To Technology. To view more about this prestigious program check out their web site at http://www.pltw.org.

Project Lead The Way® (PLTW) is a national program forming partnerships among Public Schools, Higher Education Institutions and the Private Sector to increase the quantity and quality of engineers graduating from our educational system. The program was first developed in the 1980's by Richard Blais who was then chairman of the Technology Department at Shenendehowa Central School in upstate New York. Working with the New York State Education Department and Hudson Valley Community College, Blais and his staff began a process of reviewing, developing and testing a series of courses that incorporated the skills needed in engineering with the latest high-technology equipment and software. He and his department were supported by a Technology Advisory Board that he established in order to gain the expertise of people in industry and to garner support for the changes that were to be implemented in the curriculum. The members of the board went beyond their initial objectives, locating funds to help purchase equipment and materials for the program in its experimental stage.
